The Fondation La Clé, Mouv and the Office municipal d'habitation de Montréal (OMHM) are proud to announce the success of the first edition of the Gala de reconnaissance des jeunes des HLM. Held on November 28, the event brought together more than 125 winners, their families, companions, friends and partners.
The Gala was more than just an event, it was a true celebration of their resilience, involvement and positive impact on their communities. The winners were rewarded with prizes and cash bursaries for their concrete actions, such as taking part in neighborhood clean-up projects, getting involved in sports teams, promoting non-violence or persevering in their school careers despite the challenges they face.
Isabelle Pépin, General Manager of the OMHM, expressed her emotion and pride: “I am deeply touched by your dedication to yourselves and to your community. You are the decision-makers of tomorrow, and looking at you this evening, I am convinced that our society will be in good hands.
For her part, Brigitte Samson, President of The Fondation La Clé and Senior Executive Director, Customer Energy Solutions & Services at Energir, praised the determination of the young winners: “The road to a high school diploma can seem endless, and sometimes discouraging. When that happens, remember that tonight we're celebrating your determination. Bravo for your perseverance!”
At the end of the evening, Mouv's mistresses of ceremony, Aashiha Babu and Hiba Dakir, made an inspiring call for commitment: “Join Mouv! We want to hear your ideas, and support your projects. MOUV is an organization for young people, by young people, that knows how to adapt to its members' constraints, such as study schedules. All are welcome!”
Finally, Rouzier Métellus, Acting Director of the Environmental Management Department at OMHM, expressed his delight: “I'm overwhelmed with happiness, because the Gala reconnaissance des jeunes en HLM has become a reality. We've been toying with the idea of this project for so many years. Seeing it come to fruition today and bring together so many people warms my heart. I'm already looking forward to the 2nd edition!”
This first Recognition Gala was a wonderful opportunity to celebrate the commitment and perseverance of young people in HLM. Thanks to this evening, we proved once again that, together, we can transform lives and offer a better future to the young people of our community.
